The entire team at United Industries Group Inc. is deeply saddened by the loss of Jess. As a pioneer in the bolted tank arena, Jess made significant contributions to the industry, leaving a lasting impact through his innovative spirit and dedication. More than his professional achievements, Jess was a true gentleman, known for his kindness and integrity. We had the honor of knowing and working with Jess for many years, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

My best memory with my uncle Tito was when me and my family were spending Christmas at his place, I was only a child. He was always so caring and friendly to me, was a lot of fun to be around him.

One of the mornings there I was driving my tricycle around the house and by accident I feel into the tub outside, didn’t know how to swim back then and the tub was huge for me at that age, started to drown. I remember he came and pull me out with my dad, thanks to him I didn’t see it as a traumatic moment. He was so smart to make feel at ease of the event and make see myself as a super hero, suggesting that I became one and was so brave in that water.

Will always be grateful to him for always displaying the best example of being a fantastic parent, uncle, grandpa and friend.

May you always live beautifully in our memories.

With love,
Marco Marquez

As you all know, my dad was quite an incredible man and I’m sure just about everybody in this room has a story or had an interaction that perhaps made you feel warm and fuzzy and or affected you in some positive way. As most of you know, he was born in the tiny pueblo of La Cruz Chihuahua, Mexico and at a very young age, maybe 6 ish, started working and helping his mother put food on the table. Even though they were very poor, his mother would tell him, son we may not have money, but we come from good stock. He would share many stories about what it felt like to be extremely poor. One of the stories that impacted me the most was how on Christmas mornings he would wake up and there would be no presents from Santa Claus and his mother, would tell him, he must have got lost, but tomorrow morning he’ll show up. Well, this would go on for a few days and of course Santa never showed up and eventually he would just forget about it. There were several of these stories, but he would always end them with how much love he and his mother had for each other. He knew he wasn’t poor when it came to love. Perhaps that’s why he was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and father-in-law. I must have been about 7 and my dad is going on this overnight company fishing trip and I wanted to go but I guess there wasn’t enough spaces and he left that evening so I went to bed a little bummed. Next thing I know is that I am being awakened extremely early in the morning like maybe 1 or 2am. He had come back for me when he found out there was space available. I caught so many bonita that day and will never forget that. Blessed to have so many more stories like that.
His mother‘s brother, uncle Tacho, who was already established here in the United States, brought our father over and the rest is history. My father was as humble as he was kind as he was tenacious. He worked hard while going to school and he eventually got married and brought his sweetheart bride, our mother Gloria, to the U.S. and started this amazing family. This amazing love story lasted close to 70 years! THANK YOU JESUS!! ONLY IN AMERICA! He literally didn’t know the meaning of, “This can’t be done”. He definitely was no quitter and he wasn’t afraid of new ventures. So much so that he once bought a pecan ranch in the middle of Texas. He then started this little bolted tank erecting/repair company in late 1984 and because of the visionary that he was, Superior Tank has become a world renowned bolted, steel tank manufacturer with tanks all over the globe. What has been mentioned here, briefly, are only a miniscule amount of his accomplishments/milestones. Yes, I could not be more proud to have called him DAD for 65 years. WHAT A BLESSING! A man like my father, comes around every few generations and without a doubt left his indelible mark in our world.

Mr. Jess’s spirit is intertwined with Superior Tank. This company is only where it’s at today, because of the work ethic he has instilled and the work space he has provided. While he and I only had small conversations over the years, one thing was indisputable. Mr. Jess was about making the customer happy with our quality product. Even if that meant we had to work harder, think outside of the box or stay late. And if you had to stay late, he was right there with you. Well, at least he was in my case, haha. He would stand over my shoulder while I was working on something that he needed, and he would be telling me a story or important information about the job. Most times with a hand on my shoulder. He was a very affectionate man. During the Christmas parties, he was so caring. You can tell he was happy for all the prize winners. I remember one time he asked German and I to pick up his car from the mechanic and being super scared driving it. My memory is pretty bad, but I think it was a Cadillac. I just remember it being a boat, as the only other cars I had driven were small Ford’s and Honda’s, lol. The reason he entrusted me was because he was giving a tour to a client, which circles us back to his commitment to the customer. I just wish I got to know him more. But seeing the family, the company and the people he has affected tells me all I need to know. He was loved. And that’s truly something.

With fond remembrance, Andrew D.

I was fortunate to work with Mr. Jess, back when he was coming into the office. He would stroll by and pat my head while I was sitting at my computer and say, “how are ya, sweetheart?”. He worked hard for his company, even in his later years when he didn’t have to, and his desk was always filled with stacks of job folders.

He kept his door open, and shop and office employees could stop by regularly to say hello. He was warm, friendly, and respectful to everyone he encountered. He genuinely cared about all his employees. He was usually smiling, and he had the BEST laugh.

It was especially sweet to witness his interaction with his family members in the workplace. Ever-maintaining professionalism, the love he had for them was evident.

Rest in peace, Mr. Jess. We will do our very best here to honor your hard work, sacrifice, and dedication that has taken Superior Tank so incredibly far. -Steph

My sweet precious grandfather,
Undoubtedly the hardest working man, the most brilliant and innovative businessman, with the most charming smile, and the kindest soul, that I am blessed to have known, loved and admired for 39 years.

Every year for my birthday, he would write a novel in my birthday card. Literally every free space was covered with his personal message to me.

There were times where he had a lot to say, lol (esp in my late teens, and early 20s), so he would flip to the back of the card and continue with his message and/or lecture.

Although each year the card was different, the message was always the same…. stay close to God, love your family, love your country, be kind, never stop learning, stay healthy, be the hardest working person in the room and never stop smiling.

I will always cherish those cards

As far as how Jhon was hired with Superior Tank is quite a remarkable story. Some of you may have heard about it and I know a lot of you haven’t so I’ll try to give you the short version. back in Santa Fe Springs days we used to get a lot of people walk in looking for work so the secretary would take their number and because there were so many she would often just throw them in the Waste basket. My dad happened to be walking by this waist paper basket and noticed some very neat penmanship on a scrap of paper and picked it out and inquired to the secretary about it. Turns out this phone number was Jhon Godoy‘s brother, Hector and he came to work for us , and when it came time for him to go back home, he said he had a brother looking for work who was a lot better than he was, lol. So Jhon came to work for us and has been here ever since and the rest is history. God works in mysterious ways!

Mr. Jess changed so many lives by offering a path to success for those with the tenacity to pursue it.

He was a great teacher and an exceptional human being, who cared for his team in ways that were sometimes beyond the boss, he truly wanted you to succeed, like a father would.

he could see potential in people that others would have not.

Jess, I am here because of you; you and your visionary mind. You will be missed.

Until they day we meet again.. Jhon G.
